Το χωριό κτίστηκε στα τέλη του 16ου αιώνα, πιθανότατα από Ηπειρώτες κτηνοτρόφους και κτιστάδες και αποτελούσε το ανατολικό σύνορο της ζώνης που ήταν υπό τον έλεγχο του Αλί Πασά των Ιωαννίνων.
